How To Choose The Right Roofer For You

When it comes time to get work done on your roof in Texas, you must choose the right roofing contractor.

Your roof is no joke.

You need to make sure the company you're choosing has experience and is reliable. A company like that will be happy to be open and communicative about themselves and their work.

Saving even a couple thousand dollars isn't worth it if your new roof starts to leak or puts your family at risk. Plus, what if that company disappears when you do need help?

There are few things you need to check before hiring anyone:

  • Do they have a roofing license?

  • Do they have material guarantees?

  • Do they have a good reputation?

  • Do they have references?

  • Did they do a good inspection?

  • Did you read the contract?

Now, let’s talk about how you should decide on a roofing company.

Nowadays, the problem isn't doing research on your roof. The problem is sorting through all the information to know what actually matters when selecting a roofer.

The easiest way to cut through the noise is to be informed. In the internet age, there are no excuses to have a bad experience with a contractor.

The first thing you should know is that there are a lot of roofing companies out there. Many of them are reliable and hard working!

The problem is when you get "roofing companies" that claim to be legitimate...but they bought a ladder and nail guns at Home Depot last week. And now you're trusting them with your roof.

It's hard for someone who has never stood on a roof to tell the difference. Or even know what they should be looking for.

So now you decide to go to the other extreme, and hire the huge corporation. It's the safe choice! They have a big building, a fleet of trucks and ads on the radio.

This is usually a very safe option.

You may deal with minor things, like long wait times, confusing contracts and lack of communication. But you won't get ripped off.

And we get it, it's a business. They have overhead and they need to make a profit. They need to minimize costs.

But this is where roofing becomes more a business than about service and accountability. Of course, there are plenty of benefits to a big company!

Your job will be done, they will do the job according to safety standards and if anyone gets injured, you won't have to go to court. This is just another option, you are free to go this route!

However, there is also a great selection of companies right "in the middle". Not too small, not too big but just right.

This is where you get most of the savings that come from not having the overhead of a big company, while having the same accountability and security.

Authenticity - You actually get to meet the contractor. This is the same person doing the estimate and selling you on the work. You get to meet him, know who he is, his attitude and work ethic.

When the owner is in the room for most of the job, beside his crew, watching over them, you can be sure that he's is signing his name to the quality of the job.

Good Communication - You get to sleep well knowing who is working on your roof. If anything does happen (things do happen), you can find them and hold them accountable.

At the same time, you can get a hold of someone to discuss the details of your roof and know that your concerns will actually be addressed.

Workmanship - You know you'll be getting quality. You'll hear this term from everyone but the way that we run our company is in pursuit of quality.

There are critical areas like valleys, hips, ridges and cut-ins around plumbing and ventilation. Plus roof perimeters such as rakes and eaves. They need special attention, so we give it special attention.

When pulling old shingles off, we address the deck of the roof and ensure there is proper venting.

We are GAF-certified, which allows you to have the best material guarantees in the industry. We have strict policies in place and we constantly go to roofing education events to make sure we are on the cutting edge of the roofing industry.

We hope this helps you feel a bit more confident when choosing a roofing contractor! We are also offering a free checklist for you to follow when going through a roofing project.
